Foresight & Futures Working Group

I'm pleased to say that Lauchlan McKinnon will be heading up the Foresight & Futures Working Group. Dr Lauchlan A.K. Mackinnon is a consultant with interests in performance management, creativity, innovation, knowledge management, scenario planning, change management and organisational culture. Dr Mackinnon developed an interest in organisational development during his doctoral research in the departments of Economics and Philosophy at the University of Queensland, where he applied ideas from the psychology of creativity literature to understanding the creative processes of professional economists and examined how individual behaviour interacts with social structures to create, reinforce, or modify corporate and economic institutions. Lauchlan keeps a blog at http://lauchlanmackinnon.blogspot.com/ and can be reached at http://cognitive-pathways.com/

If you would like to join this Working Group, leave a comment or contact Lauchlan directly.  He is working on a scoping document, which will outine what this Working Group will focus on. This will be posted to KnowledgeWavz as soon as it's finalised.

Great to see our first Working Group up and running and thx to Lauchlan for his enthusiasm!

PKM Working Group

I have been "on the road" in Hong Kong and did a presentation on the KM Standard. Lots of interest here in the KM Standard and how we are moving forward in terms of identifying working groups (domains) and what we will be doing throughout 2007.  I now have a WG leader for Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) and will announce this shortly (along with leaders for Vocab; SNA; Foresight & Futures)- but in the meantime, if you are interested in participating in the PKM WG, either email James Thomson at james.thomson@standards.org.au or you can leave a comment here on KnowledgeWavz to indicate your interest.

Roll Up, Roll Up To the New KM Working Groups

Following on from the establishment of a sustainability working group, KnowledgeWavz is pleased to announce the establishment of the first wave of working groups targeting specific expert domains within Knowledge Management for 2007 - 2008. The domains selected are: Foresight & Futures, Innovation, Social Software (Blogs, Podcasts, Wikis), Communities of Practice, Social Network Analysis, Taxonomy, Measurement and Personal Knowledge Management. A second wave of working groups is expected to be announced in the middle of the year.

The working group's primary role is to fast track content development for handbooks, industry case studies and education materials. We also anticipate adopting new media such as digital video & audio, and podcasting to showcase the working groups output. The adoption of working groups is designed to open the way for more new voices and new talent to participate in developing Standards Australia's KM vision, to reduce the time demands placed upon participants, and to free content contributors of the administrative and governance workload attached to the formal committee structure within Standards Australia.

If you would like to participate in, or nominate yourself to lead a working group, please email James Thomson at james.thomson@standards.org.au. Similarly, if there are any areas you passionately feel should be addressed as priorities in 2007 - 2008, drop James a note outlining your case for inclusion.

Update of HB189 2004

I'm pleased to say that our first Working Group will be kicking off shortly - HB189 2004 Vocabulary. This document is woefully out of date and I've been keen to see it updated so it is in line with the Standard's definitions etc.  I will announce the WG leader as soon as I make sure I have this person stitched up, set in stone and locked up :)-  Many thx in advance to this WG leader who regularly visits the blog and is taking on the challenge.  Our Sustainability WG almost has legs too, so news on this soon.
